With the rampant use of AI and its lack of ethics, I've heard that even companies like Meta are employing it for their social media platforms. I already hate social media as a whole in its current state, but obviously I need someplace to promote myself if I want more outreach as an artist.
So, this thing call Cara came up in my peripheral. I don't know if anyone else has heard of it, but from the cursory glance I've taken, it looks like an extremely promising alternative to platforms like Instagram and the site formally known as Twitter. Like Sheezy.art, Cara is still in beta, is being run by a small but dedicated team of volunteers, and they have a strong stance against AI until legislation can make it more ethical, which I am all for. Cara seems to also be one of those sites/apps that has garnered support from major studios like Marvel, Sony, and the like. They operate largely as a social portfolio platform built to make connections with clients and studios, but pretty much anyone can use it. Kind of like Art Station but again with a clear stance on AI generated images.
I've just signed up for Cara, so if anyone is interested I am there now too! Seems I have another place to start uploading my art, but I don't think I'll be reuploading my backlog there, that'd be a bit silly. My thought is that I can use it as my portfolio place to create outreach to clients and employers once I've built up my gallery enough, so here's hoping it works out!
If anyone does want to try it out, keep in mind it is in beta, the team is small, and the site may not work correctly a hundred percent of the time, but it seems worth it.
